1. Padma Bridge Bangladesh 

The Padma  Multipurpose Bridge is the longest bridge in Bangladesh. On June 25, 2022, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the country’s largest infrastructure. The bridge constructed with concrete and steel. This dream Padma Bridge is the biggest project implemented by Bangladesh without any foreign aid.

The length of the main bridge is 6.15 km and the width is 16.10 m. The bridge connecting Mawa in Munshiganj district to Jajira in Shariatpur district has two layers. It has a four-lane road at the top and a railway at the bottom. The Padma Bridge will be used for rail, gas, power lines and fiber optic cable expansion in the future.

Built at a cost of over Tk 30,000 crore, the bridge is making a significant contribution to the social, economic and industrial development of the southern part of Bangladesh. The bridge is playing an important role not only in the country but also in the regional connectivity of Asia and Southeast Asia.

পদ্মা বহুমুখী সেতু বাংলাদেশের দীর্ঘতম সেতু। ২৫ জুন, ২০২২ এ, প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা দেশের বৃহত্তম এ অবকাঠামো উদ্বোধন করেন। সেতুটি কংক্রিট ও স্টিল দিয়ে নির্মিত। স্বপ্নের এই পদ্মা সেতু কোনো বৈদেশিক সাহায্য ছাড়াই বাংলাদেশের বাস্তবায়িত সবচেয়ে বড় প্রকল্প।

 

মূল সেতুর দৈর্ঘ্য ৬.১৫ কিমি এবং প্রস্থ ১০.১০ মিটার। মুন্সীগঞ্জ জেলার মাওয়া থেকে শরীয়তপুর জেলার জাজিরা সংযোগকারী সেতুটির দুটি স্তর (তলা) রয়েছে। এর উপরের দিকে একটি চার লেনের রাস্তা এবং নীচে একটি রেলপথ রয়েছে। পদ্মা সেতু ভবিষ্যতে রেল, গ্যাস, পাওয়ার লাইন এবং ফাইবার অপটিক কেবল সম্প্রসারণে ব্যবহার করা হবে।

2.The Padma Bridge 

The longest bridge in Bangladesh is the Padma Multipurpose Bridge. This dream Padma Bridge is the biggest project implemented by Bangladesh without any foreign aid. It is the largest project in the country and will be the longest bridge in the country after construction. The bridge is being constructed with concrete and steel. The complete design of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge was formed by a team of international and national consultants led by ECOM. A company called China Major Bridge, a subsidiary of China Railway Group Limited, has been contracted to build the bridge. Construction began on December 6, 2014, and by November 2020, 92% of the bridge was completed. According to China Major Bridge Engineering Company, the contractor constructing the Padma Bridge, the Padma Bridge will be ready for traffic by April 2022.

The project will directly benefit more than 30 million people (44,000 sq km which is 29% of the total area of Bangladesh). Completion of this bridge at a cost of over Tk 30,000 crore will make a significant contribution to the social, economic and industrial development of the southern part of Bangladesh. The bridge will play an important role in regional connectivity between Asia and Southeast Asia. The Padma Bridge, the dream of the people of Bangladesh, is on the way to be realized today.

Although the World Bank and donors withdrew due to allegations of corruption, the Bangladesh government did not back down. The government decided to build the bridge with its own funds and the work is progressing accordingly. Work on the Padma Bridge is progressing at a normal pace. Everyone concerned is hoping that the construction work of the bridge will be completed within the stipulated time.

3.Padma Multipurpose Bridge 

The Padma Bridge is one of the dream projects of Bangladesh. It is a multipurpose road and rail bridge over the Padma River. It will be the sixths largest bridge in the world upon completion. The construction journey was started by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Company Limited on 7 December 2014. The whole construction was completed by May 2022. This bridge will be opened by Honourable Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina on June 25 of 2022.

The two-level steel truss bridge i3s 6.15 km long and 18.10 m wide. It has a four-lane highway on the upper level and a single track railway on the lower level. The whole project cost is estimated to be US 3.868 Billion (Including VAT and IT).

It wasn’t easy at the start considering funds and other economic issues when the World Bank cancelled its credit agreement. At last, the country had come up with its own funding. There was not only an economic issue but also an environmental problem. The river Padma has two natures – calm in winter and cruel in summer. So, the construction process was divided into 6 parts.

The first was constructing the main bridge. The second part was River training works around 14 km (1.6 Mawa + 12.4 in Janjira). The third and fourth parts were connecting the main bridge with two highways. The final part was constructing the service area and supervision.

The bridge will connect the southwest part of the country with the capital and eastern part. As a result, regional cooperation and transport management will be improved. Besides, it will cause a radical change in industrial development. Medical and educational facilities will be easier to access.

Thus, it will play an important role in the economic sector of Bangladesh. The Padma Bridge is supposed to be inaugurated in December 2021. The world will witness one more history of proud Bangladesh.

পদ্মা সেতু বাংলাদেশের স্বপ্নের একটি প্রকল্প। এটি পদ্মা নদীর উপর একটি বহুমুখী সড়ক ও রেল সেতু। সমাপ্তির পর এটি হবে বিশ্বের ষষ্ঠ বৃহত্তম সেতু। নির্মাণ যাত্রা 7 ডিসেম্বর 2014 সালে চায়না রেলওয়ে মেজর ব্রিজ ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং কোম্পানি লিমিটেড দ্বারা শুরু হয়েছিল। পুরো নির্মাণ মে 2022 এর মধ্যে সম্পন্ন হয়েছিল। এই সেতুটি মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী উদ্বোধন করবেন, 2022 সালের 25 জুন শেখ হাসিনা।

দ্বি-স্তরের স্টিল ট্রাস ব্রিজটি 6.15 কিলোমিটার দীর্ঘ এবং 18.10 মিটার চওড়া। এটির উপরের স্তরে একটি চার লেনের মহাসড়ক এবং নীচের স্তরে একটি একক ট্র্যাক রেলপথ রয়েছে। পুরো প্রকল্পের ব্যয় ধরা হয়েছে 3.868 বিলিয়ন মার্কিন ডলার (ভ্যাট এবং আইটি সহ)।

বিশ্বব্যাংক যখন তার ক্রেডিট চুক্তি বাতিল করে তখন তহবিল এবং অন্যান্য অর্থনৈতিক বিষয় বিবেচনা করা শুরুতে সহজ ছিল না। শেষ পর্যন্ত, দেশটি তার নিজস্ব অর্থায়ন নিয়ে এসেছিল। সেখানে শুধু অর্থনৈতিক সমস্যাই ছিল না, পরিবেশগত সমস্যাও ছিল। পদ্মা নদীর দুটি প্রকৃতি রয়েছে - শীতকালে শান্ত এবং গ্রীষ্মে নিষ্ঠুর। সুতরাং, নির্মাণ প্রক্রিয়া 6 ভাগে বিভক্ত ছিল।

প্রথমটি ছিল মূল সেতু নির্মাণ। দ্বিতীয় অংশ ছিল নদী প্রশিক্ষণের কাজ প্রায় 14 কিমি (1.6 মাওয়া + 12.4 জাঞ্জিরায়)। তৃতীয় ও চতুর্থ অংশ দুটি মহাসড়কের সঙ্গে মূল সেতুর সংযোগ স্থাপন করছিল। চূড়ান্ত অংশ ছিল সেবা এলাকা নির্মাণ এবং তত্ত্বাবধান.

সেতুটি দেশের দক্ষিণ-পশ্চিমাঞ্চলকে রাজধানী ও পূর্বাঞ্চলের সঙ্গে যুক্ত করবে। এর ফলে আঞ্চলিক সহযোগিতা ও পরিবহন ব্যবস্থাপনার উন্নতি ঘটবে। এছাড়া শিল্প উন্নয়নে আমূল পরিবর্তন ঘটবে। চিকিৎসা ও শিক্ষা সুবিধা সহজলভ্য হবে।
